Thoughts on Piracy
Whenever small business gets run over by big business there are basically 2 schools of thought One goes everybody should do their own little part to make things better. The other goes It's way too big for me. When I walked into the audio shops this last December I could not help but notice all the stereos supporting Mp3 format. As soon as Bertlesmann invested 20 million into directly supporting napster {then just pure piracy} in order to promote one of their biggest companies AOL and a US judge kept Napster open the aim of many businesses to make money from free music was a successes. Of course bertlesmann could have put that into their record company BMG * If someone stands on a street corner handing out money would anybody take some? So What is the RIAA for? some kind of front by the music industry? Block the ports and own the all the exclusive rights to the media formats or start a new world. Creators should be able to protect their investment. But right now It's looking allot like start a new world and It's got a long way to go. I would greatly prefer not to be put in a position to support suing individuals over illegal copies. If you would like to use the music for an movie, advertisement or video do contact me. * I CAN NOT SAY I SEE THE BENEFIT OF BEING ON A FREE NETWORK It would be just fine if these people could somehow prove me wrong. For example when I visit the Sunday market there are always a few people selling pirate DVDs now if one of my videos like mountains was on ten or twenty thousand DVDs at least I could maybe make some money playing live but these people will of course wait until someone invest big money before they want anything from me.What are the record labels doing for musicians online? Almost nothing. No compensation. THESE PEOPLE ARE MOSTLY INTERESTED KEEPING THE BIG MASS MARKETED PRODUCTS WELL KNOWN Notice I did not say famous that would mean getting paid. -REVOLUTION- * It would be perfectly justified and fair to make the piracy supporting technologies pay for every illegal download or copy ever. This would include almost all ISPs, many software manufacturers, almost all home audio equipment manufacturers including those making cassette recorders and VHS recorders just for for a start. There are a lot of people making money from all the free media and these people are just not giving anything back... New world time. It would not however be accurate to say every download would have been a sale. You might for example say 1 out of every 10 songs downloaded from the Internet or copied to tape would have been a sale. And now for something almost impossible to believe... Musicians for a short while made money on the Internet In 1997 I read 2 different stories of unknown musicians making money on the Internet one made around sixty thousand dollars the other closer to one hundred thousand. I would guess a dozen or two musicians/bands made money from 1995-1998 this way. Now this is the kind of money really needed to get recording equipment and get the wheels turning and it is no longer. Huh? Right when Napster was getting big one person was complaining how he had just spent ten thousand dollars on Internet advertising and now had to go play live, maybe the RIAA still has something on their web-site about this. Perhaps the governments should sponsor the arts. It is during the Bush administration that thousands of possible online jobs for grandma, grandpa and students and more were thrown away. You don't have to pay the fee and submit your songs and work to the copyright office to have them legally copyrighted, but I have. Hey Mr. President what for? In order to sponsor big business? and of course all the other countries followed. I'm still waiting for the paperwork for the house Bertelsmann is donating to me the one that can be seen in the video Mountains. And I would not mind at all expanding my music equipment. When does the revolution get good?
